San Diego Aerospace Museum

Aerospace is an interesting aspect of science of aerodynamics. Though the subject aerodynamics is a part of physics still the thrill and joy is still going on right from the period of Wright Brothers to the modern advancement in aerospace technology. US, as is know to us is that it is one of the biggest super power of the world. The country has the potentiality to counteract any form of global attack or attack from any subversive and divisive forces.

San Diego Aerospace Museum is one such place in San Diego city, which throws light about aviations glorious heritage with collections of over 65 US and foreign aircraft, which are kept on display at this museum. The objective is to teach the budding trainees in the field of aviation technology. Inside the museum the visitors or the tourists will find the beginning of powerful flight started from Kitty hawk. There are also traces of aerial combat fighters during the period of First World War. During the period of first world war, there were several fighter planes like Spad, Nieuport and the Albatros which hovered around the skies of France. There are also some popular aircrafts kept on display like Barnstorming and the first plane to carry the mail Curtis JN-4” Jenny”. There are some fighter aircrafts which hovered around different skies during the World War-II are also kept on display. Some of these are, Spitfires, ME 109’s, Zeros and Hellcats are on display at the museum to throw light to the tourists about the situations during those periods.

During the visit to the museum, the tourists are also taken to the International Aerospace Hall of Fame, where aero engineers and pilots are honored for their meritorious services.



The Museum remain opens from 10 AM to 5.30 PM. Exclusively the week starting with Memorial Day, the museum opens an hour later than the original schedules.

The entry tariffs to the Museums vary from different age groups. For the adults the tariff is just a paltry $ 6, juniors with age groups from 6-17 years age have to pay only $ 2. If anybody visits in a group, per say 10 persons in a group, then the tariff goes down to $ 5. Person under six years of age and military personnel surrounding the museum are not charged at all. The Museum is open to the public since the year 1935.
